The beautiful “Voices of Hope 2008” Calendars, featuring cancer survivors from Ashe County are now available for $10 and a very special calendar signing will take place at Skyland Books on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon. Come and meet the models for the calendar, they are your friends and neighbors and will be at the book store ready to sign your special calendar.

Developed by the ACT Against Cancer Coalition of the Ashe County Healthy Carolinians Task Force, the calendars make beautiful Christmas gifts which keep on giving all year with information about cancer facts and tips from those whose lives have been impacted by the disease.

The proceeds from the calendar will be used to continue to grow the principle of the Women-In-Touch Endowment fund which each year returns a portion of it’s earnings to be distributed to Ashe County residents to assist in funding screenings, diagnosic tests, treatments, education and support in the fight against cancer. In the last 6 years over $6,000 has gone to help 42 people with low income and no insurance, to get mammograms, pap smears, wigs, treatment and follow-up care. Your purchase of this calendar will assure that the principle will continue to grow and someday we will not have to turn down a person that has come to be “Touched by a Friend” in the fight against this dreaded disease because the funding is all used up.
