Mrs. Edith Wallace Henson, 93, of 137 Circle Drive West, Vilas, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007 at home.
She was born Oct. 27, 1914 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Roby and Erma Martin Wallace, and widow of Walter Jackson “Jack” Henson.
Mrs. Henson was a graduate of Cove Creek High School and was a retired homemaker. She had worked as a teacher’s aide in the local school system, in food services at Appalachian State University, and with children’s daycare. She was a member of Henson’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Harmon of Vilas, and Mrs. Judy Hawks and husband A. D. of Fleetwood; one son, Jack Henson and wife Jane of Lewisville; two granddaughters, Cheri Harmon of Vilas, and Jennifer Daughtry and husband Eric of Willow Spring; three grandsons, Todd Harmon and wife Tracy of East Bend, Terry Harmon of Vilas, and Geoff Hayes of Wilkesboro; one great-granddaughter, Katie Harmon of East Bend; one great-grandson, Clark Harmon of East Bend; three sisters, Mrs. Mable Hagaman of Trade, TN, Mrs. Ella Mae Fletcher of Boone, and Mrs. Geneva Hackney of Vincennes, IN; and three brothers, Argus Wallace of Boone, R. L. Wallace of Mountain City, TN, and Bill Wallace of Vilas. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Henson was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bobby Harmon; and two brothers, Jack Wallace and Kermit Wallace.
Services were conducted Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007 at Henson’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Officiating were the Rev. Judy Eurey and the Rev. Jim McKinney. Burial followed in the Henson’s Chapel Cemetery.
