Mrs. Ilene Dorotha Turner Poe, age 74, of Jefferson, died Tuesday morning, November 27, 2006 at Segraves Nursing Care Center.

Funeral services were held on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. George Grubb, Rev. Thomas Russell and Rev. Tommy Dollar officiating. Burial followed in the Turner Cemetery in Warrensville.

The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Boone Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. Poe was born in Ashe County on Sunday, October 29, 1933 to the late Joseph S. Turner and the late Eliza Perkins Turner. She worked as a salesperson for years at Jon-Marc and also had her own business, Josh-Renee’. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Sanders Poe on August 30, 2003.

She is survived by a son, Robert Poe and wife, Debbie, of West Jefferson; a daughter, Lynn Winters and husband, Tim, of West Jefferson; three brothers, Lillard Turner of West Jefferson, Linville Turner, of Maryland and Joe Allen Turner of Warrensville; six sisters, Kathrine Ashley, of Warrensville, Maxine Trotter, of High Point, Wilma Shepherd, of West Jefferson, Ruth Wyatt, of Lexington, NC, Doris Smith and Mary Hopkins, both of West Jefferson; two granddaughters, Jessica Poe and Telana Poe, both of West Jefferson; one grandson, Matthew Winters, of West Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
