Silver boys fall to North Wilkes Jags

On Tuesday evening, the Silver Bulldogs hosted the North Wilkes Jaguars in their final game before the Christmas break. The Silver men struggled with the Jaguars and North Wilkes pulled away in the second half to claim a 40-26 victory over the Bulldogs.

Leading Ashe was Nate Price with ten points, Zac Miller with five points, and Andrew Lopp and Jeremy Caffey with four points each. Anderson Moore added two points and Zeb Richardson added one point for the Bulldogs.

The North Wilkes Jags grabbed an early lead in the first quarter, but the Bulldogs were able to cut it within one point at the end of the quarter, 7-6 in favor of North Wilkes. The second quarter saw North Wilkes score eleven points compared to Ashe’s six and the Jags extended their lead to 18-12 at the half.

In the second half, offense was the specialty for both teams. Ashe scored ten points in the third quarter alone compared to the twelve in the entire first half. However, the Jags scored eleven to maintain their lead, 29-22.

The fourth quarter was Ashe’s final shot. However, North Wilkes was solid in the closing portions of the game and the Jags added another eleven points to their team total. Ashe struggled in the fourth quarter and only score four points to give North Wilkes the victory, 40-26.

The Bulldogs are finished till after Christmas when that they will host the Blue vs Silver Holiday Fun Day on December 29 with the guys taking center court around 7 p.m. at Ashe County Middle School.
