Mr. Mackajune Blackburn, age 83, of Lansing, died Wednesday night, December 19, 2007 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Landmark Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie McCoy, Rev. Lloyd Day and Rev. Tommy Wurth officiating Burial followed in the Howell Hill Community Cemetery with military rites.
The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, one hour prior to the services at the church.
Mr. Blackburn was born Sunday, August 10, 1924, in Ashe County to Soloman Cicero and Eula Brooks Blackburn. He served in the US Marine Corps, worked in the warehouse at Sprague Electric Company for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Darrell and Arthur Edwin Blackburn.
Mr. Blackburn is survived by, his wife, Mertie Ruth Blevins Blackburn; a daughter, Ann Blackburn Huffman and husband, Allen of Jefferson; a brother, Harold Blackburn and wife, Joanne of Crumpler, NC; three grandchildren: Allen Huffman, Jr. and wife, Tammy; Angela Dolinger and husband, Jamie and Amy Mash and husband Scott; four great-grandchildren, Krissy Huffman, Jamie Scot Dolinger, Sean Parker Huffman and Brent Allen Mash; several nieces and nephews also survive.
