I’m writing in response to the article on Virginia Foxx, Jan. 1.
You call her a remarkable woman. The only thing remarkable about Virgina Foxx is her shameful voting record. When it is politically convenient, she touts her humble beginnings then consistently votes against her poorest constituents. She voted against relief for hurricane Katrina victims, against SCHIP, against Head Start, and refused to sign a bill seeking aid for our farmers. I’m not denying she votes alot, yet the way Foxx votes is not in the best interest of our district or our country.
Foxx ranks fifth in the entire nation on taxpayer money spent mailing out her full-color brochures. She is spending over $300,000 of your tax dollars tooting her own horn. Yes folks, Foxx is one of the biggest spenders in congress.
It was said that she was one of the hardest working members of congress. Foxx does work hard...to garner contributions from big oil and big pharmaceutical companies but NOT working to represent us, our opinions, in the slightest. If riding the coat tails of the likes of George Bush makes you a hard worker, whatever will she do when he leaves the Oval Office? Oh wait. She will be replaced by Ashe county’s own Roy Carter, the man I will be voting for.
Finally, we have a true, honest and real alternative. I saw Roy Carter’s website www.RoyCarterforCongress.com and was inspired.
