Two now-former employees of Dollar Tree in West Jefferson were arrested last week and face a number of felony charges.

West Jefferson Police Chief Brian Grogan announced the arrests Monday morning; they followed an investigation by Officer Brad Jordan.

Melissa Miller Staley, 30, who had been manager of the store, now faces 13 counts of obtaining property by false pretenses and one count of embezzlement. Dennis Turner Johnson, 50, who had worked at the store, is charged with one count of obtaining property by false pretenses.

According to Grogan, the charges involve $6,600 in cash, which was allegedly taken from the business.

Both Staley and Johnson are currently out on bond, and awaiting court dates in February.
