West Jefferson, NC- This year over 200 agencies from parks and recreation, schools, and leagues applied for the 2007 National Football League (NFL) Youth Fund Local Agency Grant in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). Both tackle and flag programs were considered for support across the country. Ashe County Youth Football League received funding support for its tackle football teams to provide new helmets. This program effects over 200 youth every fall season.

Nearly 150 agencies received funding totaling almost $300,000.00 to enhance the programs and create stability for the future of youth football at the grassroots level. Ashe County Youth Football League was awarded a grant in the amount of $1000.00.

“We would like to thank the NFL and NRPA for providing funding for outstanding youth organizations across the country.” “Due to this generous grant our league can continue its top notch football program which benefits Ashe County Youth” “The new helmets that we purchased with these funds are the best youth helmets on the market and could not been afforded without this grant.” Stated league President Rusty Barr
