To the Editor:

I want to thank everyone who contributed to making the second annual HIGH COUNTRY ICE BOWL and “Inaugural” POLAR PLUNGE a big success. This year’s wild and crazy fundraiser raised a whooping $10,411.91 for the Ashe Co. Humane Society! We had 72 ICE BOWL participants (from all over NC., TN., VA., SC., GA.,and Fla.), 52 “Plungers”, and an average temperature of 46 degrees with a water temperature of 41 degrees.

To say the least, it was a great day/year, and it wouldn’t of been possible without the help and hard work from my wife, Wendy, the Ashe Co. Park’s and Rec. staff, Daniel and Rebecca Quin, Rita Prevette, Dusty Farmer, Eric Houck, Jimmy Taylor, Joe Boccardy, Cathy Allinder (Ashe Co. Humane Society), Todd Lion and Amber, INNOVA DISC GOLF, all the Disc Golfers, all the PLUNGERS, the Ashe Co. Rescue Squad and Cold Water Rescue Divers, the High Country Disc Golf Club, Jamie Arnold, the Powell Family, The Coyote Kitchen, Prime Sirloin Family Steakhouse, Ski Beech Mtn., Brickstone Pizza and Pasta, The Hobby Barn, Los Arcoiris Mexican Restaurant, Bohemia Coffee and Gallery, Steve Johnson Auto World, Wal-mart, Tweetsie Railroad, Buffalo Hunting and Fishing, Mountain Outfitters, Twin Rivers Campground, Casa de Garcia, Parkway Theatre, Cardinal Lanes, Smoky Mtn. B-que, Dominos Pizza, Pizza Hut, Pizza Plus, Mtn.
