Vivian June Sturgill, age 91, of Lansing, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008 in Hugh Chatham Nursing Home.
Mrs. Sturgill was born September 28, 1916 in Ashe County to Arthur and Dora Jones Testerman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Ray Sturgill.
She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Sturgill Hart of Lansing; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Jan Sturgill of Jefferson, Don and Brenda Sturgill of Sugar Grove, Va., Howard and Polly Sturgill of Hillsville, Va., Charles and Patsy Sturgill of Independence, Va., Joe and Elaine Sturgill of Kingsport, Tenn., Johnny and Sharon Sturgill of Wilkesboro; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren also survive.
A funeral service was held Sunday, July 20, 2008 at 3 p.m. in Sturgills Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Day officiating. Burial followed in Zion Hill Cemetery.
