The Lady Huskies volleyball teams were on the road this past Thursday for an away conference match at Forbush. Forbush, which is known as a powerhouse in volleyball in the MVAC, was able to sweep the Huskies in three games, but the match was closer than the scores depicted.

“This was our best performance of the season,” Head Coach Laura Foster commented. “This was a close match, even though we lost in three games.”

After a 16-25 loss in games one and two, Ashe battled back in game three to only lose to the Falcons by a mere two points, 23-25.

Foster continued: “We have improved, but have got to continue to do so.”

The Huskies had a difficult conference-opening week hosting North Surry, which was a 3-1 loss for Ashe, and then on the road at Forbush, a 3-0 loss. “This past week was tough week for us, playing both North Surry and Forbush; both could contend with Starmount for the conference title. We can’t let these losses get us down, we have to regroup and be ready for our next match at Wilkes Central.”

The Huskies will face Wilkes Central on September 4, Thursday at Wilkes Central in their third conference match of the season, and their fourth overall match of the season. Ashe is struggling to get a victory dropping to 0-3 early in the season but look to turn the season around.
