Alleghany is entering the contest with a 1-0 record after a 19-7 victory over Ashe’s MVAC foe, North Wilkes on August 22.
Heading into the game, Ashe is looking to simply play sound football and to tackle better than they did in the first two games. Offensively, they will look to be more efficient and to take advantage of the opportunities they get with the ball.
Ashe has fared strong against the Trojans in past years, with their last meeting rendering a 71-6 victory in 2006, and a 51-0 victory dating back to 2005. The two teams did not meet during the 2007 season, and was an unplanned game initially for this season. However, due to scheduling issues on both sides, the game was scheduled.
As a side note, the 2006 victory of 71-6 set a school record for most points scored in a single game for Huskies football.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight with the weather forecast temperature hovering around 71 degrees for kickoff. Come out and cheer the Huskies on as they go for a 3-0 start to the 2008 season at home in Husky Stadium.
