On the tail end of a tough 0-4 start on the season, the Silver Lady Bulldogs claimed their first victory of the season on Tuesday evening when they defeated the visiting Piney Creek Pioneers.

Ashe pulled out to a 21-12 lead at the end of the third quarter, and endured an 11-point fourth quarter by the Pioneers to win with a final score of 28-23.

Ashe claimed a small 5-4 lead at the end of the first quarter, but then stretched that lead to 13-8 at the half. The Bulldogs held the Pioneers to only four points in the third quarter, while they scored eight to stretch a five-point lead to nine points heading into the fourth quarter.

The eleven points scored in the fourth period by the Pioneers was not enough to close the nine-point gap as the Lady Bulldogs scored seven in the period to claim the 28-23 final victory.

Leading the Bulldogs offensively was Chelsea Eller with nine points, and Ann Marie Ballou scored six points. Olivia Thore scored five points in the victory, Chelsea Reavis scored three points, Megan Edwards scored two, Kelsey Eggers scored two, and Mary Austin Tugman added one point.

The victory for the Bulldogs came after four tough losses to open the season. The Silver Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday, December 30 when they host the Bulldog Holiday Events. That night, Bulldog fans will see a highlighted Blue-Silver match up on the hardwood, and the Bulldogs Wrestlers will feature a clinic for the fans. The wrestling clinic kicks off at 6 p.m. with the basketball teams squaring off at 7 p.m. for the ladies, and the boys following.
