Both Mallary Clay and Mariah McVey received one more honor to add to their collection throughout their outstanding basketball careers as both athletes were chosen to the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association All-District 11 team.

This district consists of 35 high schools from Alleghany, Alexander, Ashe, Caldwell, Davie, Iredell, Rowan, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yadkin Counties.

Clay was selected to the NCBCA All-District 11 first team after her terrific senior season. The senior finished the season averaging 15.7 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game and shot 52-percent from the field. Clay was chosen to the Mountain Valley All-Conference team three times during her career, as well as being named All-District three times and chosen to the MVAC All-Tournament team three times. The Catawba College signee also earned MVAC Player of the Year recognition for the 2009-2010 season. District 11 Player of the Year Jodie Lemons of North Stokes, Olivia Rankin of Salisbury, Brianna Johnson of North Iredell and North Surry’s Morgan Midkiff joined Clay on the first team. Lemons averaged 21.3 points and 11.2 rebounds per contest, helping her earn recognition as top player in the district.

Second team All-District 11 members were Jordan Hiatt of Mt. Airy, Ayanna Holmes of Salisbury, Starmount’s Kelli Bonner, Mandessa Singletary of North Iredell and Ashia Holmes of Salisbury. Bonner, who will play her college basketball at Wingate University, is one of four MVAC players, joining Clay, McVey, and Paige Love of Wilkes Central on the District 11 teams. Bonner led all District 11 players in scoring, averaging 21.7 PPG and is the 2010-2011 MVAC Player of the Year.

McVey received third team All-District honors for her play during her senior season. She is accompanied on the third team by Taylor Hiatt of Mt. Airy, Jessica Helig of Salisbury, Nicole Rumplasch of North Surry and East Surry’s Keri Fulp, the only sophomore to make any of the three teams.
