We know you’ve seen that cute kid. He may be yours, your grandaughter, or your friend’s that you want to make your own.

We hope they’ve all been entered in the Jefferson Post’s cutest kid contest, and that they’re already well on their way to being crowned this year’s overall and age bracket winner.

The cutest kid contest is being sponsored by several local businesses, including the title sponsor, High Country Ear, Nose and Throat of Jefferson and Boone, who will award a $250 savings bond to the overall winner. Age bracket sponsors, Parker Tie Co. of West Jefferson, Ashe County Ford, Independence Oil and LP Gas of Jefferson, Ross Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Boone, and Jefferson’s most famous builder Vannoy Construction are awarding prizes for the cutest kids in the separate age categories.

And while official voting began on June 1, to determine the winners, you, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and brothers and sisters can still enter your little heart-melters in the competition. The moment your cute kid photo is uploaded at www.jeffersonpost.com, ballots can be cast for your kid.

You can register at jeffersonpost.com, where it’s as simple as finding and clicking on the “Cutest Kids” icon midway down the page. Follow the simple directions, upload photos of your cutest kid, and stand back. This allows you to both enter your munchkin and vote.

Remember, it is free to enter and vote. So get with it. You do have to have a valid email address, and a cute child between the ages of birth and 12 years old. They can be yours, a relative, or a friend’s with permission.

Registration for the Jefferson Post’s Cutest Kids Contest began in April and we’ve already gotten 232 entries ,so the competition is going to be steep. We’re smitten with more than a few entrants. But only online voters can vote for and crown the age bracket winners and ultimately choose the Jefferson Post’s “Cutest Kid.”

Remember, if you’ve not already registered, there’s still time to enter and let the world see and coo over your little ones, but the competition ends June 15, so don’t delay.

Once you’ve registered, it’s time to call in the cavalry. Contact friends and family and let them know you need their help to make sure your doll turns out the champion.

If you’ve got a Facebook account and hundreds of friends hanging on your every word, plug your cutest kid there. The Jefferson Post has already seen lots of activity on Facebook; make sure your friends and family know that all they have to do is register and they’ll have the ability to vote up to five times a day for your little darlin.’
