Young athletes from around the county took part in baseball camp this week on a field where they will hope to be playing on in the future.

Varsity head coach Ronnie Pruitt hosted his annual Diamond Stars Baseball Camp at Ashe County High School, giving kids the opportunity to not only improve their baseball skills, but also have a week full of fun during the summer.

Athletes spent much of the week learning to field their positions better, as well as the basics to hitting, catching, throwing, and pitching. The campers finished off the last day of camp on Thursday playing in a simulated game against each other as well as getting to take home awards and camp t-shirts. See Tuesday’s edition of the Jefferson Post for a group picture of all camp participants.
