So far this summer, several different camps have been held in nearly every sport a youngster might consider playing. Tennis, soccer, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, baseball, and softball have all been well represented so far this year with football camps starting in just over a week.
After going to most all of these camps throughout the summer, I have noticed a few things. First of all, there were a lot of kids having fun and really enjoying themselves in the summer sun. What better way to enjoy a gorgeous summer day than by playing your favorite sport while interacting with friends and even learning a little bit here and there about the game.
While kids got the chance to learn how to play these sports better, they also got to have a lot of fun, which is the most important thing.
I also noticed a lot of the same names showed up at several different camps. Since most of the camps were taking place during different weeks of the summer, kids had the chance to take part in different camps and play different sports if they wanted to.
Last, but certainly not least, these camps seem to make summer really fly by. I’m sure kids don’t want to hear it, but Ashe County Schools start back in less than a month. Seems like just the other day, graduation was taking place at Ashe County High School and spring sports were just wrapping up.
Now, football season is almost here, along with volleyball, cross country, soccer, and tennis. Summer has flown by for everybody.
