There are many animals in Ashe County without a home and you can help.

An adoption day for residents of Ashe County Animal Control is planned for Saturday, Sept. 24 in the Walmart parking lot behind Murphy's convenience center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by and see dogs, puppies, cats and kittens who need a place in your heart and home.

Sponsored by Harvest Ministries and Faith Fellowship, whose members have formed “God's Critters” committee, in partnership with Ashe County Animal Control, the event is planned to help find homes for some of Ashe County's homeless dogs and cats. The shelter in Crumpler is currently housing 21 dogs and 13 cats available for adoption. There are some really cute puppies and adorable kittens who would love to become your loving and faithful companion.

You can see these animals at the county shelter from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Or you can stop by the adoption day event next Saturday and meet a few of them.

Ashe County Animal Control is located at 767 Fred Pugh Road in Crumpler, next to the county landfill. Turn off N.C. North at Old Highway 16, then onto Chestnut Hill Road, Wiley Gambill Road, and then Fred Pugh Road. Call 982-4060 or click on asheanimals.com.
