Volleyball team falls to Alleghany, Wilkes Central

The Lady Huskies volleyball team started Mountain Valley Conference play winning three of its first four conference matches, bet lost at Alleghany last Thursday and at Wilkes Central on Tuesday.

Ashe put up good performances against Elkin, beating the Lady Elks 3-1, and against North Wilkes picking up the 3-0 sweep as part of the team’s 3-1 record to start MVAC play.

Conference front-runner Alleghany remained undefeated on the season when they defeated Ashe 3-0 last Thursday. The Lady Huskies fell to Wilkes Central on Tuesday with an identical 3-0 defeat, putting the team’s conference record at 3-3 while they sit at 4-7 overall.

Next week, the Lady Huskies will be on the road for a non-conference tilt with Alexander Central on Monday before wrapping up the first half of MVAC play with another road game at East Wilkes on Tuesday.
