Last week, the Ashe County High School Husky junior varsity football team collected its second win of the season with a 42-0 victory over Alleghany.

The Huskies were led on the ground by Hunter Barnes who had over 100 yards rushing, including a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage, a 70-yard sprint to the endzone. Keith Miller added a five-yard touchdown run while Alex Laws scored on a four yard run as well.

Quarterback Matthew Hamilton had a big day for Ashe. He tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Devan Sheets, and did plenty of damage on the ground, scoring two rushing touchdowns from one yard out.

Overall, the offense was in sync all evening long as the team did not have to punt a single time through the entire four quarters.

Defensively, the Huskies had one of its best performances of the year, shutting out the Trojans.

The Huskies’ record now sits at 2-5 overall and 2-3 in conference games.

Ashe played at Wilkes Central last night as the season continues closer to the end. Ashe has two JV games remaining on the season. Next Thursday, Oct. 20, marks the final home game of the season for the team. It will also be Parents’ Night at Ashe County High School. The JV team will then finish the year at East Wilkes on Oct. 27.
