The annual induction ceremony is scheduled for the last weekend in April 2012 and is planned to be held at Ashe County High School. Specific dates and details for the Induction Ceremony, dinner, and Keynote Speaker will be forthcoming.
Comprised of a Committee of Rotarians and local community members, the Committee seeks to recognize and perpetuate the noteworthy sportsman traditions of Ashe County by memorializing individuals and teams who have made extraordinary contributions to sports traditions in Ashe County.
Forms may be mailed to: Ashe County Sports Hall of Fame, PO Box 1045, Jefferson, NC 28640. Deadline for submission of nominating forms is February 1, 2011. Nomination forms are available for pick up and drop off at the following businesses: Ashe Chamber of Commerce, Peoples Rexall Drug Store, and WKSK. They are also available online at the Jefferson Post and WKSK. Forms are also available from the following individual committee members: Mike Badger, Charlie Bowers, Graham Caddell, Bradley McNeill, Marc Payne, Scott Grubb, Hank Clay, Billy Smith, MaryAnne Moore, and Doug Spell.
Meeting every Thursday at noon at Jefferson Landing, the Jeffersons Rotary Club is a part of Rotary International, which is the largest and oldest service organization in the world. The Sports Hall of Fame is presented as part of the “Community Service” aspect of service for the Jeffersons Rotary Club.

Nomation form:
*Individuals and/or teams may be nominated by any resident of Ashe County.
*Specific information MUST be provided for sections C and D for nomination to be considered.
*Request memorabilia for display the evening of the ceremony.
*Selection will be made by a committee composed of Jeffersons Rotary Club members and non-members who are residents of Ashe County.
*When a candidate is nominated, that nomination stays on active file with the Sports Hall of Fame Committee to be evaluated in following years.
Hall of Fame Criteria
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
1. The candidate must be or must have been a resident of Ashe County for at least five (5) years. Residency does not have to be continuous but rather may be cumulative.
2. The candidate may be an individual or a team.
3. The candidate must have been an active participant in the sportsman activity for a significant period of time.
4. The candidate must be of good character and reputation.
5. While a citizen of Ashe County, the candidate’s sportsman achievement(s) and/or contribution(s) must have been recognized county-wide as enhancing the sports activity he/she represents.
6. All candidates shall be considered without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, handicap, or national origin.
