Peter Thurman McNeill, Jr. of Flemingsburg, Ky., passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at his home with his family by his side after a long illness. He was 85.

Mr. McNeill was well known around the world for his consulting work with agricultural and electrical development and was a great steward of the land, by being a tree farmer.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Anna Lou Planck McNeill; children, Marsha (Frank) McCartney of Flemingsburg, Ky., Dr. Samuel G. (Helen) McNeill of Paducah, Ky., Dr. Judy Linger (Joe Weissman) of Annandale, N.J., Martha Lou McNeill of Washington, D.C., Peter Andrew “Drew” (Mary Ellen) McNeill of Morehead, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Anne Garwood of North Wilkesboro; sister-in-law, Freda (Bob) McNeill of West Jefferson; several nieces and nephews.

For the convenience of the family, visitation and “A Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, May 26, at the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church Flemingsburg, Ky. Times will be announced later by Boone - Nickell Funeral Home.
