Michael Paul Bennett, 35, and Christina Reece Bennett, 32, both of Warrensville, were arrested on May 17, by members of the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division after an investigation spanning four months.
The arrests were made with help from the Boone Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, according to Ashe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Jeremy Williams.
Both were charged with six counts of selling and delivering a controlled substance, three counts of possession with intent to sell, manufacture, or distribute a controlled substance, and one count of manufacturing methamphetamine.
The pair allegedly sold prescription medication and methamphetamine, according to Williams.
Michael Paul Bennett was also charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance in a confinement facility, after a controlled substance was allegedly found on his person during a subsequent search following his initial incarceration.
Both are currently in custody at the Ashe County Detention Center on $250,000 secured bond.
