Men’s basketball head coach Marc Payne will be hosting his High Country Hoops Camp as planned this summer.

The camp starts on Tuesday, June 5 and will last through Thursday, June 7.

Campers that are rising third through rising sixth graders will play at the high school each day from 9 a.m. and will stay until noon. Rising seventh through rising 10th graders will have camp each day from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Campers are advised to arrive 15 minutes early prior to their camp session.

Participants may pre-register for the camp, or simply register on the first day.

The objective of the High Country Hoops Camp is to give the young basketball players in the county a place to learn more about the game as well as teach and develop basketball fundamentals. The coaches also want things to be fun for the kids so they’ll enjoy the game a lot more while also strengthening the basketball program throughout the county.

The cost for this year’s camp is $50. For members of the Ashe County Lightning AAU team, the cost will be dropped to $40. Also, freshman and sophomores who are attending the Emory & Henry team camp and middle schoolers who attended the ACMS Rising Stars camp will only pay $25.

Registration forms can be picked up at the high school, or at the Jefferson Post.
