The Lady Huskies volleyball squad will open the year with three of its first four games against familiar non-conference foes.
The first official match of the season will take place on Aug. 14 at Avery High School. After that, the ladies jump into conference play with a match at East Wilkes two days later.
Tuesday, Aug. 21 will be the date for Ashe’s first home match of the season, an early-season rematch against Avery. The very next day, Ashe will travel to Watauga to wrap up its non-conference slate of games.
Ashe finishes the month of August with a road match at Elkin on Aug. 23, a home match against Starmount on Aug. 28 and a road contest against West Wilkes on Aug. 30.
September opens with a match at home against North Wilkes on Sept. 4 and the first match of the year against Alleghany two days later. Sept. 11 marks the first of two matches against Wilkes Central, this one coming at home.
The Lady Huskies complete the last full month of play with a match at Forbush (Sept. 13), two straight games at home vs. East Wilkes and Elkin (Sept. 18 and Sept. 25) as well as a visit to Starmount (Sept. 27).
Ashe completes the regular season with three of its final five matches at home. The Lady Huskies play host to West Wilkes (Oct. 2), Alleghany (Oct. 9) and Forbush (Oct. 16). In between, Ashe travels to North Wilkes on Oct. 4 and Wilkes Central on Oct. 11.
State playoff action is slated to begin on Oct. 20 with the first round of Sectional play. Regional games are scheduled to start on Oct. 27 with the 2A state title game slated for Nov. 3.
The varsity volleyball team is coached by Lindsey Williams while the junior varsity squad is coached by Jennifer Wilkinson.
