Voting to crown the Jefferson Post’s 2012 Cutest Kid is now underway, but there’s still time to enter your cutest kid and get all your friends to vote.

You can win a great prize along with the prestige of having the “Cutest Kid.”

You can register at jeffersonpost.com, where it’s as simple as finding and clicking on the “Cutest Kids” icon midway down the page. Follow the simple directions to upload photos of your cutest kid, and you can view other photos while on the site.

Registration allows you to both enter your cutest kid and vote, now that official voting is underway.

Remember, it is free to enter and vote. So get with it. You do have to have a valid email address, and a cute child between the ages of birth and 12 years old. They can be yours, a relative, or a friend’s with permission.

Official voting continues through June 23, when this year’s Jefferson Post’s “Cutest Kid” will be announced.

The Cutest Kid Contest is sponsored by Ashe County Ford and James R. Vannoy & Sons Construction.

This year’s grand prize is a check for $250 for the top vote-getter. A $150 prize will also be awarded to the winner of the newborn category.

In 2011, the competition was steep. With hundreds of cute kid submissions, and thousands of votes last year, the road to the top is going to be even tougher in 2012. There are some awful cute kids on the site already! Yours should be there as well.

But only on-line voters can vote for and crown the age bracket winners and ultimately choose the Jefferson Post’s “Cutest Kid 2012.”

Once you’ve registered your cute kid, it’s time to call in the cavalry. Contact friends and family and let them know you need their help to make sure your cutie turns out the champion.

If you’ve got a Facebook account and hundreds of friends hanging on your every word, plug your cutest kid there. Make sure your friends and family know that all they have to do is register and they’ll have the ability to vote up to five times a day for your little darlin.’

Same goes for Twitter and email. It’s as easy as copying and pasting the link to register with the Jefferson Post into your Twitter feed or email list. Everyone loves cute kids.
