If you haven’t been to an Appalachian Rollergirls (ARG) action-packed bout, then you are definitely missing out on some great entertainment for the entire family.
ARG is an all-female adult roller derby team in Boone. The team is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that always works closely with a local charity or persons in need when they put on a competition as a way to give back to the Boone area community.
This season the ladies of ARG are undefeated with a record of 4-0.
The Appalachian Rollergirls will take on the B Messie Smith’s of Chattanooga on Saturday, June 23 at the George M. Holmes Center in Boone. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the bout starts at 7 p.m.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at www.theholmescenter.com or at local retailers in Boone: Black Cat Burrito, Boone Drug at Deerfield, Lucky Penny, and Woodlands BBQ in Blowing Rock.
Tickets in advance are $10, and $15 on gameday. Tickets are $5 for students with college ID and fans 12 and under are free.
In an effort to raise money for the Eric Ford family of Blowing Rock, the rollergirls will be having a raffle at the bout. Tickets can be purchased at the bout or in advance from your favorite rollergirl.
“This family needs our support and that of the community. Rollergirls are happy to be helping locally,” said Shannon Hampton aka Diesel Pusher, an ARG skater.
Raffle tickets are $1 each, prizes vary from winning a table saw to loads of mulch.
