Gary Steve Powers

Mr. Gary Steve Powers of West Jefferson passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at his residence. He was 63.

Mr. Powers was born in Hartford, Md., on March 5, 1949 to the late Warren Powers and Mrs. Edna Elliott Couden.

He is survived by two sons, Quinn Powers of Wilkesboro and Chris Wilcox of Bristol Va.; two daughters, Edna Beth Powers and husband, Jamie, of Grassy Creek, and Amy Miller of Millers Creek; mother, Edna Couden of West Jefferson; three brothers, Larry Powers of Laurel Springs, Jerry Powers of Jefferson, and Ray Powers of West Jefferson; one sister, Debra Halloway of Delaware; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, at Boone Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Francis officiating. Burial followed in the Powers Family Cemetery with military rites.

The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, one hour prior to the funeral service.

The family met at the homeplace of Edna Couden, 1776 Sexton Road, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
