On July 9, Superior Court will return to the Ashe County Courthouse. The Honorable Benjamin Alford is the scheduled presiding judge.

Notable cases include Ryan Edward Claar, 32, of Watauga County, charged with three felony counts of a teacher taking indecent liberties with a student. Claar, the former Ashe County High School Band Director, was suspended by the Ashe County Board of Education after an investigation was launched by the Ashe County Sheriffs Office. Claar later resigned. At the time of his resignation, Claar had been employed as the band instructor at ACHS for a year and a half.

Other cases include:

Thomas Absher, assault on a female, possession of methamphetamine, trafficking opium or heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Duane Harold Bare, two counts driving with license revoked, driving while impaired.

Chase William Bass, felony breaking and or entering, larceny of a firearm, three counts trafficking opium or heroin, conspire to traffic opium or heroin.

David Michael Bennett, three counts misdemeanor probation violation.

Benjamin C Blevins, driving while impaired.

Jody Chad Blevins, two counts probation violation.

Latosha Ann Boyd, conspire to sell/deliver cocaine.

Daniel Ray Brown, H/I felony probation violation.

Joshua Paul Busby, felony possession schedule II controlled substance, possession of firearm by felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts communicating threats, assault on a female, reckless driving to endanger, hit and run fail to stop property damage, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Alvin Shawn Byrd, felony breaking and or entering, larceny after break/enter.

Leslie Annette Calhoun, misdemeanor larceny.

Darren Joseph Capote, three counts securities fraud/violation.

Kimberly Michelle Coe, H/I felony probation violation.

Dakota James Collins, felony probation violation, probation violation, resisting public officer, misdemeanor escape local jail.

Dennis Duane Combs, H/I felony probation violation.

Randall Scott Combs, hit/run leaving the scene of property damage, injury to real property.

Amy Carroll Denny, three counts forgery of endorsement, three counts uttering forged endorsement.

Robert Delaine Dillard, criminal contempt.

Kellie Denise Dollinger, driving while impaired, driving with license revoked.

Matthew Shane Duncan, two counts probation violation.

Sylvia J Duncan, three counts trafficking opium or heroin.

Michael Charle Emerson, reckless driving to endanger.

Jeremy Philip Gibbs, two counts trafficking opium or heroin, felony obtain controlled substance by fraud/forgery.

Michael Shanno Goforth, sell/deliver schedule IV controlled substance, conspire to traffic opium or heroin, possession with intent to manufacture sell distribute schedule IV controlled substance.

Gina Weaver Goins, conspire to sell methamphetamine, conspire to deliver meth, possession of methamphetamine, three counts sell methamphetamine, three counts deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture sell distribute methamphetamine, possess/distribute meth precursor.

Steven Lynn Greer, first degree sex offense child, indecent liberties with child, crime against nature.

Elizabeth Ann Hall, three counts probation violation.

Drew Hastings Hoffman, obtain property by false pretense, sell/deliver schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture sell distribute schedule II controlled substance, two counts conspire to sell/deliver schedule II controlled substance.
