Gleamus ‘Tony’ Pruitt

Mr. Gleamus “Tony” Pruitt of Lansing died on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. He was 78.

Mr. Pruitt was born on June 23, 1934 in North Carolina to Roansa and Minerva Wagoner Pruitt. Mr. Pruitt was preceded in death by his parents, son, James Edward Barker, and brothers and sisters.

Mr. Pruitt is survived by his wife, Opal Blackburn Pruitt; four sons, Robert Lee Barker andwife, Nancy, of Lansing, Ronnie Earl Barker and wife, Mary, of West Jefferson, Jackson Gwyn Barker and wife, Ina, of Warrensville, Willard Dean Barker and wife, Doris, of Granite Falls; one daughter, Barbara Ann Stuart and husband, the Rev. Tom of Lansing; two brothers, Squire Pruitt of Jefferson, the Rev. Soloman Pruitt of Crumpler; three sisters, Rhoda Donnley of Tulsa, Okla., Gretel Howell of Jefferson, Icel Howell Curtis of Lansing; nine grandchildren, Janet Hamm, Betty Miller, Karen Barker, Debra Walters, Zachery Stuart, Vicky Price, Kenneth Barker, Amy Presley, Ricky Barker; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jim Greer and the Rev. Dennis Poe. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, at Badger Funeral Home.
