Earnest ‘E.J.’ Hart, Jr.

Mr. Earnest “E.J.” Hart, Jr., of Lansing, died Friday, June 22, 2012 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. He was 75.

Mr. Hart was born April 23, 1937 in Ashe County to the late Earnest Hart Sr. and Louetta Sheets Thompson. Mr. Hart was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He retired from United Chemi-Con after 30 years. E.J. loved and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Hart is survived by his wife, Bobbie Blevins Hart; three daughters, Deborah Cox and husband, Doug, of Crumpler, Janet Elliott and husband, Ronnie, and Mary Johnson and husband, Billy, both of Lansing; four brothers, David Hart of Maryland, Robert Thompson, Donnie Thompson, both of Jefferson, Ronnie Thompson of West Jefferson; three sisters, Betty Duvall of Crumpler, Patsy Tedder of King, Carol Segraves of West Jefferson; five grandchildren, Joseph Cox and wife, Stacy, Melinda Lyons and husband, Greg, Scottie May and wife, Shelia, Eddie May and wife, Amanda, Adam Johnson; nine great grandchildren, Kelsey Eldreth, Eli Lyons, Ethan Lyons, Haylee May, Heather May, Brandon May, Jacob May, Matthew May, Jasmine Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 25, at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tommy Dollar and the Rev. Dean Shepherd. Burial followed in Scott-Blevins Cemetery.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, at Badger Funeral Home.
