James Lloyd Davis

Mr. James Lloyd (Jim) Davis, formerly of Todd, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the Hospice Home of High Point. He was 87.

Mr. Davis was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Greensboro to James Ira Davis and Eddy Clyde Reeves Davis. He loved and enjoyed his family so much and enjoyed taking trips across the United States. He had a wonderful voice and loved playing the guitar and singing with his family and church family. He has blessed his family with the gifts of laughter and joy.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gladys Worley Davis; a son, Dewey M. Davis, Sr. and wife, Janice, of Archdale; a daughter, Brenda Davis Salcedo and husband, Andrew, of Verona, Va.; six grandchildren, Cindy Griffin and husband Bruce, Kevin Davis and wife Holly, Jeffrey Davis and wife Alietha, all of Trinity, and Dewey Davis, Jr., of High Point, Brandon Salcedo and wife Catherine, and Bevin Salcedo Yowell and husband Eric, both of Staunton, Va.; and 11 great grandchildren, Courtney Davis, Jackson Davis, Sarah Davis, Nathan Davis, Faith Davis, Matthew Davis, Brittany Griffin, Heather Griffin, Kenzie Yowell, Maddie Yowell, and Ash Salcedo.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of Providence Place-The Harbour, High Point Regional Hospital, and the Hospice Home at High Point for the excellent care of their father.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. July 5 at Beaver Creek Christian Church, West Jefferson, conducted by the Rev. Jim Dawes and the Rev. Terry Austin.

The family received friends at the church at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Home at High Point.
