Recent Ashe County graduate Tyler Keagy made his college choice official as he will be continuing his soccer career at Catawba College.
Keagy signed his Letter of Intent to become a part of the Catawba Indian squad.
The former Husky played a key role in a three-year run that included some of the most success that any soccer team at ACHS has experienced. In 2009, Ashe qualified for the playoffs before losing in the first round to Salisbury. Just two years ago, the Huskies advanced to the third round of the playoffs with wins over West Caldwell and Newton-Conover before falling to conference rival Forbush. Most recently, the Huskies knocked off Wilkes Central in the first round of the 2011 playoffs before dropping a hard-fought battle to Surry Central in the second round.
Keagy will join a Catawba team coming off of a season where they finished 9-9-2 overall and captured sixth place in the South Atlantic Conference.
Liam Farrell, who is entering his fourth year at Catawba, coaches the Indians. Farrell spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Appalachian State University and was a four-year starter during his playing days at Belmont Abbey.
Catawba lost seven of its players to graduation, and will hope that Keagy and the rest of the underclassmen can help improve the team even more.
