Zylpha Lewis Vanover
Mrs. Zylpha Lewis Vanover of Creston passed away Friday morning, July 13, 2012 at her daughter’s home. She was 79.
Mrs. Vanover was born in Ashe County on Thursday, July 21, 1921, to the late Vinson Arthur Lewis and Emma Faye Nelson. She was a member of Pine Mountain Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John (J.C.) Vanover; two brothers, Robert Lewis and William Lewis; and four sisters, Juanita Whitaker, Marie Robinson, Estella Watts, and Clara Sturgill.
She is survived by one son, Charles Vanover of Creston; one daughter, Nancy Carol Jones and husband, Rev. Galvin, of Grassy Creek; two sisters, Tressie Winebarger and husband, JC, of West Jefferson, and Mary Blanche Osborne and husband, Lenson, of Monticello, Ga.; four sisters-in-law, Ella Mae Lewis of West Jefferson, Draxie Lewis of Creston, Zell Lewis of Creston, and Ella Rea Vanover of Creston; one brother-in-law, Dewey Vanover of Creston; caregiver, Lesa Eremita of Grassy Creek; a special sister, Ruth Smith of Mooresville; three grandchildren, Amy Jones, Julianne Jones, and Robert Jones of the home; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, at Boone Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Roark and the Rev. Gene Ward officiating. Burial followed in the Vanover Family Cemetery.
The family received friends from 10-11 a.m. Monday, one hour prior to the funeral service.

The family met at the homeplace at 16658 NC Hwy. 88 West in Creston.
