Help preserve and honor the heritage of mountain music by celebrating the 43rd Annual Ashe County Bluegrass & Old Time Fiddlers Convention Aug. 3-4 at Ashe County Park in Jefferson.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of the Jeffersons, the event includes competitions among musicians from throughout the southeast for over $3,500 in prize money. If you can pick a note or two, you can even join in on a few of the jam sessions. Bring your lawn chair and sweater, and enjoy the music and cool Blue Ridge Mountains of Ashe County. Concessions cooked fresh on-site. Camping available (not water, limited number of sites with electricity).

Gates open 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 with music from individuals and bands. Gates open at noon on Saturday, Aug. 4 with music from youth, individuals and bands. Band option available to play one night or both nights with the highest score used.

With over $3,500 in prize money, the event’s focus continues to be musician-centered and to honor the old time and bluegrass music of the mountains and the musicians who make it. Ashe County has a rich history in the roots of what eventually evolved into the current country music industry, and continues to produce some of the best musicians in the nation.

The Ashe County Bluegrass & Old Time Fiddlers Convention is a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of the Jeffersons for scholarships and other Rotary projects.

Ticket prices include $10 per night, or $15 weekend pass - available at Ashe Chamber of Commerce in West Jefferson.
