Mr. Jimmie Lee Poteat of Salisbury passed away Aug. 4, 2012 in Gold Hill. He was 70.

Jimmie was born March 15, 1942 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Willie “Bill” Poteat and Elvie Irene Russ Poteat. He was educated in the Rowan County Schools, worked for Food Lion in the warehouse pulling orders.

Jimmie was a member of Phaniels Baptist Church, a former member of the Faith Jaycees, an avid walker and he loved music.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Dwight Poteat, who passed away April 5, 2004.

Survivors include a son, Johnny Poteat and wife, Jill, of Warrensville; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Strickland and husband, Gary, of Abbeville, La.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Phaniels Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Michael Taylor, Pastor of Phaniels Baptist Church.
