Vivian Wyatt Goodman

Mrs. Vivian Wyatt Goodman of Jefferson passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. She was 83.

Mrs. Goodman was born in Ashe County on Nov. 11, 1928 to the late Ernest McKinley Wyatt and Neine Hardin. She was a member of Bald Mountain Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Goodman was valedictorian of her graduating class in 1947 at West Jefferson High School.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Calvin Goodman; a brother, Harold Ray Wyatt; and a two-year-old granddaughter, Brandy Byland.

She is survived by two sons, Donnie Goodman and wife, Barbara, of Knightdale, and Alan Goodman and wife, Daphne, of West Jefferson; three daughters, Joyce Blevins and fiancé, Keith Caraway, of West Jefferson, Brenda Garland and husband, Jerry, of West Jefferson, and Linda Harless and husband, Donald, of West Jefferson; one brother, Roger Wyatt and wife, Julie, of West Jefferson; a sister-in-law, Toy Wyatt of West Jefferson; 14 grandchildren, Kasey Jones, Krystal Southard, Kody Blevins, Seth Byland, Shanda Richards, Amanda Summer, Donna Bare, Cole Harless, Dillon Harless, Joe Goodman, Alycia Richardson, Austin Goodman, Amy Cardwell, Donnie Cardwell; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at Boone Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Goodman officiating. Burial followed in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, one hour prior to the funeral service.
