Homer Lee Huffman
Mr. Homer Lee Huffman of North Wilkesboro died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012 at his home. He was 75.
Mr. Huffman was born Feb. 23, 1937 in Wilkes County to Quincy Benjamin and Eda Eller Huffman. He was self employed and was a member of Baptist Home Baptist Church. Mr. Huffman was Past Master of the North Wilkesboro Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Oasis Shriners.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Phyllis Alene Huffman Kanupp; and a brother, Adali Eldridge Huffman.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Burchette Huffman of the home; one sister, Linda Ann Huffman Handy and husband, Robert L., Sr., of North Wilkesboro; one niece, Kimberly Jill Kanupp Pounders and husband, Gregg, of Killen, Ala.; three nephews, Kevin Jack Kanupp and wife, Wendy, of Huntsville, Ala., Robert L. Handy, Jr. and wife, Janet, of Wilkesboro, Benjamin Scott Handy and wife, Bobbie, of North Wilkesboro; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Baptist Home Baptist Church with Dr. Lon Chenowith, the Rev. Jeff Blackburn and the Rev. Tim Collins officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites by North Wilkesboro Masonic Lodge #407 was in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family received friends at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Home Baptist Church Building Fund, 2367 Sparta Road, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659 or to the Masonic Children’s Home, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
The members of the North Wilkes Masonic Lodge #407 served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Marvin Sheets, Rick Caldiron, Shelton Parsons, Eric Huffman, Tommy Burchette, Kelly Ellison and Henry Souther.
