Luther Charles Russell
Mr. Luther Charles Russell, better known as L.C., of West Jefferson, received his angel wings Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 when God called him home from Watauga Medical Center. He was 68.
L.C. was born Feb. 18, 1944 in Ashe County to Luther and Daisy Black Russell. L.C. was preceded in death by his parents and one special granddaughter, “Miss Mandy,” Miranda Cherie Russell.
L.C. was an avid house painter and has worked and was well respected all over Ashe County. He was also a diehard Tarheel fan. He attended Mt. Paddy Church.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife and eternal soul mate of 49 years, Carol Jean Russell; one son, Bobby Russell and wife, Melanie, of Hickory; three daughters, Carolyn Bennett of Crumpler, Tracy Bare and husband, Tim, of West Jefferson, Candace “Charlie” Roten and husband, Mike, also of West Jefferson; two brothers, Donald Russell of West Jefferson and Tommy Russell and wife, Cindy, of Wilkesboro; one sister, Teresa Shepherd and husband, Tom, of N. Wilkesboro; one special dog, “Nacho”; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tim Roten and the Rev. Randy Peters. Burial followed in Claude Mash Cemetery. The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, at Badger Funeral Home.
