The setting is “sometime in the distant past, but it doesn't make much difference; there are always old people in the world.” The place is in the garden of a church adjoining an old people's home.
Cast members include: Doc Adams as Mr. Beebe, Maureen Dintino as Mrs. Hanmer, Ramona Renfroe as Miss Hoadley, Melissa Caudill as Miss Tripp, Gilly Macknee as Reverend Watson, Rebecca Herman as Mrs. Sampler, Connie Woolard as Mrs. Gross, John MacConnell as Mr. Cherry, Jim Williams as Oliver Erwenter, Brad Jenkins as Emmett, Ken Mullen as Bishop, Calvin Miller as Father Shay, Tim Donahue as Mr. Beach, Owen Peeler as Mr. Reddy and Tom Dintino as the policeman.
The play is directed by Jeff Dreyer.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, Friday, Aug. 24, and Saturday, Aug. 25, with a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26 at the Ashe Civic Center in West Jefferson.
Reserved seating is available in advance from the Ashe County Arts Council. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for students, on sale now at the Ashe Arts Center, either in person, or by phone at 846-ARTS.
