Helen Rose Barker


Helen Rose Barker of Kingston, Okla., passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at the Family Care Center in Kingston. She was 85.


She was born Aug. 6, 1927 in Crumpler to the late A.L. Absher and Buelah Little Absher.


Helen was raised in Crumpler where she graduated high school. Helen married William (Jack) Worth Barker in North Carolina. He preceded her in death. Helen was also preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma and Doris; and three brothers, Clarence, Mickey and Sidney.


She worked as a housewife most of her life and later worked as a waitress. Helen moved to the Kingston area about a year ago where she lived the rest of her life. She was a wonderful babysitter, her grandchildren were her life, she loved flowers and quilting.


She is survived by a son, David Barker and wife, Clarasa, of Madill, Okla.; grandchildren, Chene Hartman of Kannapolis, Travis Barker of Kingston, Okla., Christian Ann Clemens of Lone Grove, Okla., Gene Barker of Durant, Okla., Candie Ponczka of Hunterville, David Barker II of Texarkana, Texas; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and sister, Lucille Phipps of Crumpler.


Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, Okla. Donny Custar and David Barker II will officiate the services.


Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
