David Fields McNeill


Mr. David Fields McNeill of Crumpler died on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. He was 62.


Mr. McNeill was born on Jan. 11, 1950 in Ashe County to Doughton and Margaret Marsh McNeill. Mr. McNeill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Cline McNeill.


Mr. McNeill retired as a road foreman from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He enjoyed hunting and being outside until he became disabled.


Mr. McNeill is survived by a daughter, Shannon Wallace of Warrensville; a brother, Robert McNeill of Leesville, S.C.; five sisters, Charlotte Plummer of Cornelius, Shelba Elliott of West Jefferson, Billie McNeill of Cornelius, Mary Johnston of Greenville, S.C., Nancy Brittain of Hickory; two grandchildren, Dakota Wallace and Laken Wallace; and one special little girl, Lexie. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.


Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Minister David Lyalls. Burial will follow in the Pine Swamp Cemetery.


The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
