Ashe County Planner Zack Edwardson delivered a letter of resignation to the county manager’s office Monday evening.
This resignation will relieve Edwardson of his eight-year post as the county’s planner, beginning in the summer of 2004, according to Ashe County Manager Pat Mitchell.
The reason for Edwardson’s sudden resignation is unknown at this time.
Mitchell said she will be hiring a permanent county planner to replace Edwardson, and that she posted the position Thursday.
The job posting says the following:
“The planner, who will report directly to the County Manager, must be a self-motivated professional with strong written and verbal communication skills.”
The posting goes on to say, “The preferred candidate will have the following: a graduate degree in planning or similar field; three years’ experience in a planning function; an ability to work with the public, the Ashe County Planning Board, and internal county departments.”
