Ashe County continues its solid season on the golf course, taking second place last week at Silo Run with a team score of 154.

Elkin keeps piling up the wins against its Mountain Valley Conference opponents. The Lady Elks shot a scorching 120 to get the win. Following Ashe in second place was Alleghany in third (156), Forbush in fourth (168) and Wilkes Central in fifth (170).

The highest individual score went to Elkin’s Mary Francis Hall, who shot a 33, six shots ahead of second place and teammate Annika Winebarger. Elkin’s Kaley Cornelison, Ashe golfer Taylor Price and Alleghany golfer Katie Tally each fired a 48, good enough for third best overall.

Madison Little shot a 52, Katie Girtman finished with a 54, and both Olivia Barr and Madison Ball finished with scores of 58 to round out the Lady Husky totals.

Ashe competed in its final regular season match on Wednesday at Oakwoods Country Club. The team will now turn its attention to the MVAC Tournament set for Wednesday, Oct. 17 at High Meadows Country Club in Roaring Gap.
