Brandy Miller returned home from her trip to the IBMA Kids on Bluegrass Program held in Nashville, Tenn., where she played special concerts and received additional accolades for her skilled banjo playing.

“I would like to take this opportunity to give a big thank you to my community, family and friends for all the support that was shown to me for my trip to Nashville for the IBMA Kids on Bluegrass Program.”

While in Nashville, Miller was named Youth Showcase Artist for the Huber Banjo Company and for the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation Play it Forward Instrument Lending Program. Miller was presented a new Huber banjo and will be endorsing Huber Banjos.

Miller also performed a Tom T. and Dixie Hall Showcase and performed on Friday night and Saturday morning with 22 other young musicians from across the nation with the Kids on Bluegrass Program.

“On Friday, my mom received a call from George Hamilton IV inviting me and my family to be his backstage guest at the Grand Ole Opry for Saturday night. This was a wonderful and exciting experience for me. I hope one day that I will be asked to play at the Grand Ole Opry,” said Miller.

Miller said she would like to thank the following for their support: 580 WKSK, Randy, Debra and Jake Greer, all of the businesses who donated to the silent auction, individuals who made donations, her grandparents Cecil and Glenda Walters, Peggy Blevins, and her mother, father and sister.

Miller is also appreciative of the musicians who played during her fundraiser. “A big thanks to all the musicians who came out to perform at the concert including Heritage Gospel Group, Wayne Henderson and Helen White, Steve Lewis, Josh Scott, Brandon Hardin, Daniel Greeson, Jake Greer and Kevin Miller.”

Miller also said “I would also like to thank Harold Mitchell for the MC work, Tim Varner for doing sound, and the Ashe County Arts Center for the use of the civic center.”

With this trip under her belt, Miller wants to continue moving forward with her music career. “I look forward to more new experiences and where music might take me. Thank you again and remember to support your local musicians,” said Miller.
