Mrs. Wilma Jean Woods of Lansing passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 4, 2012, at her mother’s home. She was 61.

Mrs. Woods was born in Ashe County on Sunday, Dec. 24, 1950, to the late Eugene “Gee” Woods and Thelma Wyatt Woods.

She worked at Sara Lee Knit Products until the closing of the plant. She was a member of Harvest Time Ministries in North Wilkesboro.

Wilma had a love for life. She enjoyed being outdoors, deer hunting and fishing. She enjoyed being with people, especially the young children. She never met a stranger. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by a son, Gregory Lee Richardson of West Jefferson; a daughter, Cindy Richardson Shatley and husband, Kevin of Jefferson; her mother, Thelma Woods of Lansing; three sisters, Bonnie Woods, of Lansing, Nancy Miller and husband, Lloyd of Fleetwood and Robin Brown and husband, Jerry of West Jefferson; two grandchildren, Chance Shatley and Alexa Shatley; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Shepherd, Rev. Gene Shepherd and Rev. Bud Shepherd officiating. Burial followed in the Wyatt Cemetery.

The family received friends at Boone Family Funeral Home.
