Mr. Rex Allen Howell passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at his home. He was 55.

Mr. Howell was born Dec. 20, 1956, in Ashe County. He was a son of the late Edward Doyle Howell and Betty Ilene Conner Howell.

He was employed by Tyson Foods until he became disabled. He was a member of Bristol Baptist Church in Jefferson. He was an avid NASCAR fan and was Tony Stewart’s #1 fan.

In addition to his parents, Rex is preceded in death by a brother, James Howell; and four sisters, Geneva Johnson, Janlane Johnson, Shirley Campbell and Avanell Miller.

Rex is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Guffey of Mooresville and Kimberly Howell of China Grove; three sisters, Ruth Shepherd of Kannapolis, Katherine Jennings of Wilkesboro and Patricia Reynolds of Concord; four brothers, Joe Howell of China Grove, Orne Howell of Sparta, Stephen and Wayne Howell, both of Wilkesboro; and three grandchildren, Elijah Guffey, Conner and Carson Richardson.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis. Rev. Joe Blevins and Rev. Ronnie Cooper will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family received friends Monday at Lady’s Funeral Home.
