Ashe took an early lead in the first quarter and never trailed the rest of the way, cruising to a 12-point win over visiting Avery County.

Alex Spencer led the way for the Huskies with 18 points.

Corbin Winebarger added seven points, followed by Connor Bowers and Stanton Moore who each had six points.

Other scorers included Bradley Lucas and Gavin Woodie with three points each, Maison McNeill with two points and Parker Shelton with two points.

The junior varsity squad now sits at 3-1 overall after a win last week against East Surry and a third place finish in last weekend’s JV invitational tournament.

Ashe will face a tough test Friday night as the team will travel to Watauga to face the Pioneers.
