Mrs. Helen Creo Aloia of West Jefferson died on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at her home. She was 91.

Mrs. Aloia was born on Feb. 14, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late Frank and Assunta Creo.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Aloia was also preceded in death by her husband, John Aloia; two brothers; two sisters; three grandchildren; and two sons-in-law, Robert Ocuto and Santos Ficara.

Mrs. Aloia was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She ran a business at Shatley Springs and was a volunteer at Ashe Services for Aging. She lived a very full life and loved spending time with her family and her dog Ginger, playing bingo, and needlepoint.

Mrs. Aloia is survived by son, Michael Aloia and wife Cindee of West Jefferson; daughter, Helen Leserra and husband Michael of West Jefferson; daughter, Grace Webb and husband Bill of Marion; daughter, Pat Ocuto of Jefferson; daughter, Barbara Ficara of Florida; daughter, Susan Kitson and husband Thomas of Jefferson; sister, Jean Platt of New York; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church by Father James Stuhrenberg. Entombment will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
