Mrs. Johnsie Marie Miller Dancy of Jefferson the Glendale Springs Community passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 92 years and 10 months.
Mrs. Dancy was born on March 3, 1920, in Ashe County to Columbus “Lum” Michael and Ida Belcher Miller.
Mrs. Dancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis Dancy; son, Jimmy Lum Dancy; and all her brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Dancy was a member of Glendale Springs Presbyterian Church. She loved being a homemaker, was a wonderful cook and she enjoyed making jelly and jam to give family and friends. She was a very giving and loving person to everyone.
Mrs. Dancy is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce “Joy” and Sonny Vannoy, and JoAnn and Phil Rhyne; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Audrey Dancy; daughter-in-law, Juanita Dancy, all of Glendale Springs; four grandchildren, Jamie (Debbie) Dancy, Joey (Elizabeth) Dancy, John (Sara) Rhyne, Jill Browne; nine great-grandchildren, Jameson, Jackson, Luke, Alec and Ava Dancy, Jacob and Nora Rhyne, Elena and Mason Browne; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Sidney Crunk, Rev. Charles McCoy and Rev. Russell Sheets. Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at Badger Funeral Home.
